Showtime is a stage magic themed weapon mod for doom!!! You are Heidi, a magician’s assistant who fights her foes with a variety of magic tricks!!! Use cards, rings, hand saws and even rabbits to dispatch your enemies in an unusual fashion!!! Tricks can be further augmented with magic tomes which provide powerful alt-fires to all weapons, turning the tide of battle!!! 

No magic show would be complete without a host of flashy stage outfits. They are over 100+ pretty outfits to make your adventure a more interesting experience!!!

Gameplay

One of the goals of this mod was to make a mod without a million keybinds. Besides the standard Doom controls, this mod only utilizes altfire (right mouse button)

Showtime is a mod about discovery and experimentation. Heidi has many abilities with her tomes, but can only have one tome equipped at a time. Tome switching becomes mandatory as every time Heidi changes outfits, she will have to change her tome. Learning how each altfire works, its strengths and weaknesses is key to survival. Be creative, many tome altfires have extra abilities and even the most bizarre of abilities have their place and can turn the tides of battle in your favor.

Heidi can increase her base power through weapon upgrades and style points. Every weapon can be upgraded via ??? boxes, akin to berserk patches and like berserk patches, they only last the current level. Style points are passive bonuses obtained when changing into a non-default outfit. Each style of outfit provides a different bonus. These bonuses stack so the more outfit Heidi wears, the stronger she becomes. Be careful. If Heidi's armor drops to zero, she will lose all her current style points. Be sure to keep a spare outfit around, just in case.

Showtime is a balanced gameplay mod. With the right tome, weapon upgrades and enough style points, Heidi can become powerful, but she will never be overpowered.

Weapons

Slot 1: Saw

Nothing better than Sawing a demon in half. On hit, enemies drop health. Altfires will drop different ammo types depending on the tome. The upgraded saw does more damage and will always stun enemies.

Slot 2: Appreciate wand

Tool of the trade for any magician and the primary workhorse weapon. Great for snipering a distant imp or obnoxious heckiler. The upgrade fires an extra shot

Slot 3: Razor deck

Strong and sharp. Worthless at a distance, but deadly when up close and personal. The upgrade fires additional cards after the attack to finish off a still standing spectator.

Slot 4: Nothing, nope, nada 

Slot 5: Magic hat

What would a magic show be without the classic pulling a rabbit out of a hat trick? Rabbits run toward there target and explode into a lovely firework. Just keep your distance. Rabbits may not be able to strike airborne enemies, by many of the altfire animals can. The upgraded rabbits move faster and let off extra explosions.

Slot 6: Portal rings

Watch as one ring becomes four. Each ring rapidly fires out a powerful blastof magic which can decimate an army of demons in seconds. If only it didn't chew through ammo and take forever to deploy...

Which the upgrade completely remedies. Go nuts!!! (This upgrade will always replaces the BFG)

Tomes (Altfires for all weapons)

Vanilla tome: Classic doom abilities... with a twist.

Sulfur tome: Explosive abilities. Don't blow yourself up

Trifecta tome: Triple abilities. Everything in threes.

Swamp tome: Poison abilities. Be patient.

Candy tome: Sweet abilities. Tasty. Watch your waistline.

Miser tome: Free abilities: Weak attacks, zero ammo required.

Safety tome: Defensive abilities. Hard to use, fun to master.

Quick tome: Quick abilities: Life in the fast lane... Watch the speed limit.

Shrapnel tome: Caltrops abilities. Who put these here! Ow!

Nuclear tome: Piercing abilities. Gamma rays can piece anything.

Clown tome: Bouncy abilities: Boing, boing boing!!! All over the place.

Texas tome: Guns abilities. All American hunting

Outfits and style points

Sexy outfits: Increases damage by 5% per rank (Maximun 25%).

Fancy outfits: Reduces damage by 5% per rank (Maximum 25%)

Cool outfits: Increases explosive radius. Decreases explosive/self damage by 10%, (This includes archvile damage), (Maximum 50%)

Exotic outfits. Increases duration of powerups by 25% per rank. Powerups give 25 overheal per rank (Maximum +100 overheal)

Cute style: Increases health/ammo drops from saw attacks. 

Sleazy style: Increases base value of healing items by 20% (Maximum 100%)

the more recent wand changes have been nice, making things play more smoothly and survivably. i kind of wish the miser shot for the cards was the default for the base, non-upgraded weapon, with its faster reload. I tend to use the wand the most out of all the weapons, with the others being very situational, but i wouldn't say the wand is op, now. could something like the wand's charge work for the cards? holding fire for a weaker but steadier flow of cards.. would be nice for rooms with a bunch of dolls alongside stronger enemies you want full blasts for, and would present a little more variety while spreading ammo consumption.

edit: maybe i'm still not using tomes enough. even considering that,  it feels like ammo flow holds you back a bit until you get a backpack and fill it.

What Happened To The PK3 File For The V-1.05 Update?????

The Prior Versions Have a pk3 File With Them But All Of A Sudden, "THIS" Release doesn't "have" a pk3 File Included With It.....

ARE YOU PLANNING TO MAKE AN UPDATE TO FIX THE ISSUE WITH THE MISSING pk3 FILE?????

sorry if this is a stupid question, but how do i get my hud to look the one shown in the images? mine just looks like a reskin of the default bar-at-the-bottom layout. no Heidi or anything. btw I'm new to doom (and its mods) and i'm playing on gzdoom 4.13.2 if it matters.

You're going to have to disable the alternate HUD in the GZdoom options menu. I think it's options-HUD-Alternate HUD. Then, use the "+" "-" keys to adjust.

For the next update, can Heidi have a new dress called "Nude Mode"  just like the other gals from Angelic Aviary and La Tailor Girl, but only if it's featurelessly naked, just like Barbie dolls?

All I will say is... keep playing the mod (And make sure the fanservice option is on)

i appreciate your mods. This makes a great companion to angelic aviary. I didn't like the rapid switching of tomes at first, but now i'm just trying to pick up my favored ones after cleaning up the others. These weapons have just the right amount of power, for the most part.

Glad you're enjoying Showtime!!!. The rapid switching takes some getting use to, but once it clicks, there's alot of room for creativity. 

I tried to make the mod very balanced and not too op. they're some very powerful abilities, especially with the upgrades, but nothing's game breaking.

A few more thoughts and suggestions after some play (I think I still have some things to try, like tome combos with the saw and unknown secrets..) I don't mean to intrude on the project, but I thought I'd toss them out in case they inspire; don't feel pressured to acknowledge 'em or anything:

* I'm not quite sure what shrapnel + rings does. Slow close-range ground attack? Will continue to experiment.

* Player death cam almost never has the player sprite in frame when I play. Just noting this as an anecdote.

* Could be neat for the player to have an option to induce freeze deaths. I like that the option to petrify is there.

* It might be amusing to have an effect that turns defeated enemies into rabbits (extra fun if transmuted angels had sprites with design cues to indicate what type it was previously.) Mere ammo pickups, or something else? Who knows.

* Assuming the Angelic Aviary texture pack comes along, it could be neat to have interactions between this mod's magic and certain textures (assuming gzdoom has a function to query tex on hit/use/whatever.. no idea honestly.) I tend to play these mods with obsidian-generated maps, and I'm picturing interactions with randomly-occurring portaits kind of like with the statues..
